The 200 metres men’s race at the 15th IAAF World Championships is working out to be a mouth-watering event. Usain Bolt clocked his season’s best 19.95 on a jog, but before that, Justin Gatlin of the US did an almost equally impressive 19.87.
I say almost equally impressive because Gatlin did more work in his event, while Bolt repeated his strategy in the heat of running the bend hard and then jogging home.
Of the 4 Jamaicans who were in the semi-finals, only one other has gone through to the final. In semi-final 1, Nickel Ashmeade (20.19) finished second behind Britain’s Zharnel Hughes (20.14) to make it into the final with Usain Bolt. Warren Weir and Julian Forte finished way down the field in their semi-finals.
