Falmouth United and Duanvale FC top their respective zones
The Ky-Mani Marley owned Falmouth United and Duanvale FC stayed atop their respective zones after the third round of the Trelawny Football Association Grandeur Transport Services/Monymusk Rums Major League. Both teams had contrasting wins over the weekend.
Falmouth defeated Rio Bueno
The Falmouthians easily defeated Rio Bueno 4-1, while Duanvale had to thank Kenroy Brown for a 90th minute clincher in a 2-1 victory over Coopers Pen, who were losing their second successive game.
The Dr Dean Weatherly-coached Falmouth United led 3-0 after a 34 minutes rout of the Rio Bueno team. Goals came from former Village United veteran Deveron “Dads” Clarke in the 19th minute, Jamar Scott’s third goal of the season in the 29th minute, and Ziddane Francis in the 34th minute.
Rio Bueno regained their composure and were rewarded in the 77th minute with a goal from Kevado Grant.
However, Denziel McKenzie restored Falmouth United’s three-goal advantage by scoring in the 88th minute.
Holland United stayed 1 point behind Falmouth United in Zone One on Sunday, when Dean-Lloyd Reid scored his second double of the season to help lead Holland United to a 4-1 victory over struggling Salt Marsh.
Spicy Hill SC moved up to second place in Zone Two (behind Duanvale) after eclipsing Granville FC 2-1.
Invaders SC got their first win of the season, beating Daniel Town 2-0, while Kinloss FC and Friendship FC drew 1-1.
