What a race?!!! it took the third and fifth fastest times of all times to separate Holland’s Dafne Schippers and Jamaica’s Elaine Thompson.
In the end, Dafne Schippers on 21.63 seconds, beat Elaine Thompson on the line. Thompson was timed at a personal best 21.66 seconds. The Dutch was turning the tables on Jamaica, as Schippers was defeated by Shelly-Ann Fraser-Pryce in the 100 metres 4 days ago.
Thompson went out fast and came off the bend ahead of Schippers, but the powerful Schippers kept gaining and passed Thompson just in time.
Thompson: “I just fight fight until I reach the line.” The young prodigy showed great spirit in that 200 final. TVJBeijing2015 Beijing2015

Coming in at a surprising third is seasoned campaigner, Veronica Campbell-Brown who was not having as good a season as previous years. Campbell-Brown clocked a season’s best 21.97 seconds. Jamaica therefore grabbed silver and bronze.
