The Trelawny Municipal Corporation, led by team captain Shakera Williams, are the proud winners of the inaugural public sector debate competition.
The competition took place tonight, April 25.
The Trelawny team defeated the Ministry of National Security in the final. Both teams were debating the moot: “Be it resolved that the goal of Vision 2030, ‘to make Jamaica the place of choice to live, work, raise families and do business’, is a realistic one.”
The Ministry of National Security defeated the Jamaica Information Service (JIS) in the semi-final, while the Trelawny team defeated Victoria Jubilee Hospital.
It was tough going traveling from Trelawny for the matches in Kingston, but in the end it was worth it.
The Public Sector Debate Competition was spearheaded by the Ministry of Finance and the Public Service Transformation Implementation Unit, in partnership with the Jamaican Association for Debating and Empowerment Limited. The winning team walked away with more than $600,000 in prizes and the champion trophy.
On behalf of the people of Trelawny, Falmouth News would like to congratulate the Trelawny Municipal Corporation (formerly known as Trelawny Parish Council) for a job well done.
