Almost 2 years after a police inspector was mowed down by a motorist outside the Clark’s Town Police Station, Andrew Brown, a Trelawny resident has been sentenced for the death of the officer.
Inspector Mark Gibbs was conducting a routine check at the station in which he was in charge. Police reports state that he was the victim of a hit-and-run accident. The incident occurred on August 19, 2016 at about 5 pm.
Inspector Gibbs was taken to the Falmouth Public General Hospital where he was pronounced dead. Brown reportedly turned himself into police the next day after fleeing the scene.

Andrew Brown, the driver, was sentenced to 16 months in prison on Friday in the Trelawny Circuit Court, after pleading guilty to a charge of manslaughter.
