The 40th annual Trelawny Reunion week will be held from May 19 to May 26, 2018 in New York.
The multi-event celebrations are once again being organized by the Friends of Trelawny Association (FOTA).
FOTA is a US based charity organization whose primary mission is to support and promote primary education and health in Trelawny.
Each year, the organization manages the event for which it is best known: the annual reunion picnic that ends the reunion week.
This year, FOTA’s efforts will be focused on the Ulster Spring Hospital in South Trelawny.
The celebrations will commence with a Thanksgiving Service on Sunday, May 19th at the St. David’s Episcopal Church in Cambria Heights, Queens, New York.
Next, the Awards Banquet and Dance will be on Friday, May 24, 2019 commencing at 8PM at the Hilton JFK Hotel.
At this event, they will be recognizing outstanding individuals or organizations that are engaged in activities that promote the objectives of the FOTA organization.
Finally, the climax of the week’s activities: the Grand Reunion Picnic/Fun Day, which will be held on Sunday, May 26th from 8:00am to 6:00pm at the Anthony Wayne Recreation Area (Exit 17 Palisades Parkway) in Bear Mountain, New York.
This signature event is the greatest get-together of Trelawny people outside of Jamaica. Trelawny families come from all over the world to partake in this event, to meet, greet and socialize for a day.
Thousands of Trelawnyites living in the United States, the United Kingdom, Canada, Europe and Jamaica are expected to attend.
The great thing about the Trelawny Reunion is the surprise: each year, you can never tell who will turn up. It is the best chance to see those whom you haven’t seen in many years.
So, FOTA is encouraging you to make this a date.
