In what appears to have been an ambush, the son of a Trelawny-based policeman (Corporal Omras Lindo) was shot dead.
The deceased is 16-year old Cornwall College student, Mark Williams.
Reports are that about 9:45 pm last night, gunmen sprayed Lindo’s car with bullets along Irwin main road, at the intersection of Meadows and Tucker.
The incident occurred when Corporal Lindo went to pick up his son from Bible studies. His son was about to enter the vehicle, when explosions were heard coming from the rear of the vehicle. The son ran off after hearing the explosions, and the father took evasive action and returned the fire.
The gunmen fled, but young Mark Williams had received a single gunshot wound to the chest.
He was rushed to the Cornwall regional Hospital where he died while undergoing treatment.
Corporal Lindo is attached to the Falmouth Traffic Office. The St. James police are investigating.
