Despite going down 2 games to nil against Herbert Morrison in the ISSA Under 16 Western Conference Basketball Final on Friday, there was one bright spark for the William Knibb fraternity.
See: William Knibb loses U16 Western Conference Basketball final.
15-year old Rhondane Ashman who plays either point guard or shooting guard, was named MVP of the Under 16 Western Conference Basketball Final.
Ashman is from Falmouth Gardens and is the son of a former player, Rory “Ledda” Ashman. The elder Ashman formerly played centre for the Falmouth Flames team.

Rhondane, who is in grade nine, is playing only his first season of competitive basketball.
In addition to the coveted MVP award, he also grabbed awards for assist and rebounds.

In Friday’s loss, Ashman scored 14 points for Williams Knibb and had 10 rebounds.
Ashman will continue his journey in the all-island play-off which is set to start later this month. Despite losing in the final, his team still makes it through as both finalists qualify.
It’s Rhondane Ashman and he plays the position Small Forward (SF) for William Knife
Okay, thanks. Sorry, we got the name wrong. Will make the correction. Are you sure about his position? I spoke with the coach who said he plays guard, both point and shooting.
By the way, congrats daddy Rory.
Sorry William Knibb
