For the first time in the history of Falmouth there will be a night of professional boxing matches held in the historic north coast Jamaica town.
Kilvin Stewart of Hague in the parish of Trelawny, in association with well known local boxer, Shakeema Mullings, is promoting a 6-fight card at the Elleston Wakeland Sports Complex on Cornwall Street, Falmouth.
The fights will be held on Friday, December 20, 2019.
Stewart’s love for boxing led him to create a boxing club, the first in Trelawny parish. The club is called the Trelawny Boxing Intersection Club and now has over 20 persons in training, in not only boxing, but kickboxing and wrestling as well. Four of these local boxers will be on Friday’s card.
Through the sport, he has developed a close association with Shakeema Mullings. Additionally, Stewart has received valuable encouragement and support from local businesses, including Oliver’s Pharmacy and Mark Campbell.
The action begins at 7 pm, with 3 fights scheduled from 7 to 9. There will be 2 fights from 9 to 10 and the featured fight is scheduled for 11 pm.
The featured bout is a Middleweight battle between Fabian Tuc out of Florida, USA and Daron Wear from Bradford, Canada.
Before that though, there will be another Middleweight clash between Jamaicans Samuel Grant (Trelawny) and Juzere Heron.
Other bouts on the card include:
- John Lewis vs Tomere Pearson
- Daniel Hylton vs Jarmaine Palmer
- Tafari Morris vs TBA
- Renaldo Beckford vs Kirk Patrick
The referee for the night is Richard “Shrimpy” Clarke, former World Boxing Council (WBC) Continental Americas flyweight champion, WBC International light flyweight champion, and British Commonwealth flyweight champion.

Tickets are $1500 pre-sold and available at Oliver’s Pharmacy, 26 Market Street, Falmouth.
Price at the gate is $2000.
Proceeds are in aid of purchasing boxing equipment for the Trelawny Boxing Intersection Club, so the sport of boxing can continue to develop in the parish.
