Meliá Braco Village Hotel to Open in December

The Braco Village, near Rio Bueno, Trelawny, has been closed for some time. The government owned property is slated to re-open in December 2015 in time for the winter tourist season. Braco is owned by the National Insurance Fund, which has an agreement with Melia to operate the property under a 15-year lease.

It will be managed under the Meliá Hotels & Resorts’ brand all inclusive portfolio. The ‘new’ hotel will be called Meliá Braco Village and is currently being extensively refurbished.

General manager, Dimitris Kosvogiannis has high ambitions for Melia Braco Village: “We want to breach the five-star hotel standard; we want to be first hotel that approaches the six star.”

With the re-opening comes the requirement for new workers, Kosvogiannis, stressed that the work force will be Jamaican, ideally 100% Jamaican. He said he wanted the best that Jamaica has to offer. If you know you’re the best and you are from the Trelawny area, you will be interested to hear about the job fair next month.

We are pleased to announce this new employment opportunity to our readers. There will be a two-day job fair, the first of which will be held at the Montego Bay Convention Centre on September 19, followed by another in October.
