Ky-Mani Marley Makes Falmouth United Football Club Dream A Reality
Ky-Mani Marley has stepped forward to invest in the new Falmouth United Football Club. The club will be based at the Elleston Wakeland Youth Center in Falmouth
Ky-Mani himself is son of the soil of Falmouth, having been born on Cornwall Street. This street borders the headquarters of Falmouth United, which will be Elleston Wakeland Sports Complex. He is the son of former Caribbean table tennis champion, Anita Belnavis, who also grew up on Cornwall Street.
Second Time Around
The move by the son of reggae legend Bob Marley, is reminiscent of the early 2000’s when Jeofferey White spearheaded Village United into national recognition through the National Premier League.
Back then, White and his team totally refurbished the facility and under his leadership, the two seating stands were erected.
Through this effort, Village made it to the semi-finals of the Premier League as well as the final of the all-island knockout competition.
The facilities at the Elleston Wakeland Center once again are in a deplorable condition. Ky-Mani Marley has taken on the massive task of refurbishing the facilities.
The structure of the club will see former Village United defender, Brenton Rodney as the General Manager along with former national representative Cassman Williams as President.
Related: Just last week, we carried the story of the death by suicide of former Village United player, Romando Anderson. He would no doubt have been a member of this new Falmouth United Football squad.
