A 31 year-old unemployed man was shot and killed in the district of Jackson Town in east central Trelawny parish on Monday, February 5.
Residents summoned police after gunshots rang out in a section of the community at about 3:30 pm.
When the police arrived, they found Damian McFarlane, also known as “Blacks” of Jackson Town, lying face down with what appeared t be a gunshot wound to the back. He was barefooted and clad only in a pair of jeans pants.
McFarlane was taken to the hospital and pronounced dead.
In their subsequent investigation, the police found lead sheets that are used for lottery scamming.
McFarlane’a murder brings the murder tally for Trelawny parish to 4 since the start of 2018. Last year, Trelawny reduced its murder tally (by 5) to 21 for the entire year.
