filthy drain in Falmouth Jamaica

One of our readers has submitted these photos taken this morning, showing the state of the drainage at the corner of Seaboard Street, where it meets Market Street.

This is a stone’s throw from the Court House where the Mayor’s Parlour is located. It is also a few minutes walk from the Falmouth Cruise Ship Port. In the photo above, the Court House property is seen in the top right, while the Falmouth Pier is located to the left of the black truck in the background.

This drain has been in this condition (when not cleaned) for several years. One would have thought that with its location in close proximity to these locations, it would have received priority.

The reader commented on Facebook, that ” If they have the fire department wash one drain per week the town in no time will flourish.”

Judging from the picture though, it seems the garbage that has collected has been thrown there by selfish citizens. The town can only flourish if both citizens and the authorities co-operate to clean up the town.

In the meantime, it is over to Mayor Garth Wilkinson, Member of Parliament Victor Wright and the people of Trelawny to solve this problem.
