According to Insider Monkey’s blog, Falmouth, Jamaica is 3rd on the list of : “Places to Visit in Jamaica That Are Safe and Beautiful.”
The reasons given are the many georgian buildings that preserve our country’s history supported by the Half Moon Bay Beach. That beach is in need of rehabilitation, similar to what is being done at Burwood Beach, which is a more attractive option than Half Moon Bay.
Insider Monkey is a website providing investment advice and hedge fund management. Their blog features several Top ‘#’ Lists for destinations worldwide.
The parish of Trelawny (for which Falmouth is the capital) earned 2 places on the list. Coming in at number 6 is Martha Brae, with its attraction: Rafting on the Martha Brae River. This is only 2 miles south of Falmouth town center (Water Square).
Number one on the list is Negril (beach) followed by Doctors Cave Beach, then Falmouth. Conspicuously missing from the list is Ocho Rios with its Dunn’s River Falls. How can you have a top places to visit in Jamaica and omit Dunn’s River Falls? One “Falls” is on the list, and that is Reach Falls. How can that possibly outdo the world famous Dunn’s River Falls?
Anyway, it is not my list, but Falmouth News is happy that our two destinations (Falmouth and Martha Brae) are considered as being in the top 9 destinations in Jamaica, by such a respected source. The highlight is that they are judged not only for their beauty, but also for their safety.
