First Unofficial Test

The West Indies ‘A’ team will host England Lions cricket team at the Trelawny Multi-purpose Stadium. This will be the first of three unofficial “Test” matches in the England tour of the West Indies.

The match is expected to begin on Sunday, February 11 and run until Wednesday, February 14.

West Indies ‘A’

The West Indies ‘A’ is actually the ‘B’ team, being a step below the first class West Indies cricket team.

West Indies ‘A’ features players from the West Indian islands of Anguilla, Antigua and Barbuda, Barbados, Dominica, Grenada, Guyana, Jamaica, Montserrat, Saint Kitts and Nevis, Saint Lucia, Saint Vincent and the Grenadines and Trinidad and Tobago.

Trelawny Multi-purpose Stadium

The Trelawny Multi-purpose Stadium has been greatly under-utilized, so this game should be welcome by cricket lovers in the western region of the country.

The Tour

The England Lions will play a series of three “Tests” and three One-day matches – to be hosted in the islands of Jamaica and Antigua.

The tour will run until March 11, when the Lions are expected to play the West Indies ‘A’ in the 3rd one day international (ODI) at the Coolidge Cricket Ground in Antigua.

In terms of ranking, the Englishmen are the 5th ranked test and the 3rd ranked One-day International (ODI) team in the world. The West Indies first-class teams are ranked 8th (test) and 9th (ODI).
