Trelawny Division 1 Football Semi-finals
The first leg of the Trelawny Division 1 football semi-finals was played on Saturday, June 7th, 2015 at the Elletson Wakeland Sports Complex in Falmouth, Jamaica.
Daniel Town FC vs Rio Bueno FC
Daniel Town FC, the “new kid on the block,” put one leg in the final by defeating Rio Bueno 1 goal to nil. At the end, Rio Bueno was left regretting their missed chances as they dominated the game and even hit the bar several times.
Those missed chances came back to haunt them, when in the 86th minute, a Rio Bueno player was judged to have handled the ball.
Zeico Lewis of “DT” sent the keeper the wrong way with the deciding penalty.
Apart from the missed chances by Rio Bueno, the real difference was made by Muschette High schoolboy, Anthony Hamilton in goal for Daniel Town. He pulled off some excellent saves, to keep a clean sheet for Daniel Town and helped to ensure their vicotory.
Fire FC vs Bunkers Hill So Fresh
In the other semi-final, Fire FC beat Bunkers Hill So Fresh 3-2. It was an action packed first half, as Fire FC jumped to a 2-0 lead, before So Fresh made it 2-2 before half time.
In the second half, Fire FC struck again. Both Daniel Town and Fire FC will take the 1 goal advantage into Saturday’s second and deciding semi-final. This will again be played at the Elletson Wakeland Sports Complex in Falmouth.
At stake will be a place in Trelawny’s Major League, which is the top football league in the parish. Both finalists in the Trelawny Division 1 will qualify for the Trelawny Major League.
