DANIEL TOWN, Trelawny — Despite contrasting results over the weekend, Coopers Pen FC and Salt Marsh United have both moved into the top four of the Trelawny Football Association Monymusk Plantation Rum Major League points tables as the third-round cross-zone fixtures kicked off.
Coopers Pen, the knockout champions, gave up a goal and were held 1-1 by Duanvale FC on Saturday, while Salt Marsh United won for the sixth-straight time, beating Daniel Town 4-1 on Sunday. Both are tied on 23 points.
Shaunavan McKenzie gave Coopers Pen the lead with his league-leading eighth goal in the 41st minute, but Andre Coleman snatched a point for Duanvale FC with his 79th-minute equaliser as they stayed in fifth place, one point out of fourth.
At Daniel Town, Malik Scott’s own goal gave Salt Marsh United the lead in the 19th minute and they never looked back, adding a second in the 30th minute through Marvin Reynolds and making it 3-0 in the 52nd thanks to Anthony Knuckle.
Scott scored one for Daniel Town in the 65th minute, but Kemar Morridge got a fourth for Salt Marsh in the 85th minute.
