For the 35th year, the Friends of Trelawny Association (FOTA) will be holding their annual Trelawny Reunion Celebrations. This takes place (as is now the custom) on Memorial Day weekend, which is the last weekend in the month of May. FOTA Reunion Picnic 2015 video.
What started out as a gathering of a few friends from the Falmouth area has blossomed into an event attended by thousands from the parish of Trelawny and beyond. These people come from all over the world to socialize and meet and greet persons they may not have seen in ages.
The most popular event is the picnic, which takes place on the Sunday before Memorial Day. This year, it will again be held at the Anthony Wayne Recreational Area, Rockland Park, Bear Mountain, Nyack, New York.
Before that though, the week-long celebration will begin on Sunday, May 22nd, 2016 at 5 pm with a Thanksgiving Service at the St David Episcopal Church, Cambria Heights, Queens, New York.
On Friday, May 27, there will be an Award Banquet will follow at the Radisson JFK Hotel in Jamaica, Queens.
On Saturday, May 28, FOTA will be holding their Annual General Meeting at 1 pm, also at the Radisson Hotel in Queens.
Sunday May 29 will be the big day, the 35th Annual Trelawny Reunion Picnic. The picnic will begin at 8 am.
Friends of Trelawny Association is an organization that seeks to help foster the development of Trelawny through its voluntary charity organization. They are known for assisting the more unfortunate ones back home. Recently, the donated school kits as well as assisted in the funding of heart surgery for a young teen, after their family had made an appeal for assistance. They have also donated hospital supplies amid several other contributions.
